HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Background & History

The TGPMA HOP Foundation, Inc. or THE GRADUATES OF PHILIPPINE MILITARY ACADEMY HELPING OUT PROJECT FOUNDATION, INC. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing assistance to the needy and underprivileged members of Philippine society and victims of calamities/disasters. The foundation was inspired by the concept of "Suspended Coffee," a tradition that originated in Naples, Italy, where customers pay for an extra cup of coffee in advance to be given to someone who cannot afford it. Since then, it became a worldwide movement.

"Suspended Coffee Video"

The video became a hot topic among PMA Graduates on Viber, and amidst the suffering caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic, the idea of doing similar acts of charity was born. Spontaneously, many generous PMA Graduates entrusted their voluntary contributions to Cav Yap, and with a core group of alumni volunteers, the idea became an action plan, within two weeks. The first project was “MEALS ON WHEELS” (MOW), a feeding program, conducted in some areas within the National Capital Region, in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

VISION, MISSION , & CORE VALUES

VISION

TGPMA HOP's VISION is to be a reliable catalyst among PMA graduates in uplifting the quality of life of the marginalized in Philippine society.

MISSION

Our MISSION is to provide assistance to the needy and underprivileged members of Philippine society and to the victims of calamities and disasters.

CORE VALUES

The foundation is guided by a strong belief in these CORE VALUES of GRATITUDE, GIVING BACK, and COMPASSION.

The foundation embraces the above-stated set of core values that stem from a deep-rooted commitment to GIVING BACK. This is our humble way of expressing gratitude to those who played a pivotal role in supporting us as "mga iskolar ng bayan sa PMA" and making a significant difference in society.

Central to our mission is the belief in practicing GRATITUDE, recognizing the blessings we have received, and using them to benefit others.

We firmly believe in the power of COMPASSION, understanding the struggles that individuals face and extending a helping hand to alleviate their suffering. Furthermore, caring for others lies at the heart of our foundation's mission.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

We acknowledge the sacrifices made by our members, who have already served the country in the Armed Forces. Building upon their commitment to service, we aspire to continue serving the nation and its people by providing assistance to those who require it most. We fervently believe in making a tangible difference in the lives of those less fortunate, and we continuously seek innovative solutions to alleviate their hardships. Through our adherence to these core values, we aim to inspire others to join us in our mission. By working together, we can create a society rooted in compassion, kindness, and caring, where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and find support in times of need. Together, let us make a meaningful and lasting impact, transforming lives for the better.

LOOKING BACK & WAY FORWARD

Since its inception in December 2021, TGPMA HOP has grown from a simple idea into a full-fledged organization. The foundation began with a feeding program called "Meals on Wheels" (MOW) in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in selected areas of the National Capital Region. However, due to the devastating impact of Typhoon ODETTE, TGPMA HOP expanded its initiatives to provide relief goods and aid to affected communities in Negros Occidental, Cebu, Leyte, Iloilo, and Maguindanao.

To date, TGPMA HOP has successfully implemented over 22 notable projects across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, benefiting thousands of individuals and families. The foundation owes its success to its very supportive donors, strong partnerships with the AFP, PNP, local government units (LGUs), and other stakeholders on the ground. These collaborations have allowed TGPMA HOP to maximize its impact and reach more people in need.

On December 23, 2022, the TGPMA HOP Foundation, Inc. was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), solidifying its commitment to transparency and accountability. The foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees (BOT) composed of dedicated PMA graduates who have been instrumental in planning and executing the foundation's projects. The BOT members serve as volunteers and cover all expenses incurred during their meetings to ensure that donor funds are used solely for the foundation's initiatives.

Moving forward, TGPMA HOP aims to become a fully operational foundation by completing the necessary documentation, licenses, and permits. The foundation remains committed to its core values and will continue to prioritize helping those who need it most, independent of any partisan political influences.

The TGPMA HOP Foundation, Inc. welcomes the support and collaboration of like-minded individuals, organizations, and communities who share its mission and vision. Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of those in need and contribute to the betterment of Philippine society as a whole.
